And that's actually where my comment about more "Partitions" comes in... the parts of India that are doing well need to disassociate themselves from the rest of the country which is a complete mess.

I don't know much about India; how do you think the split would go if it happened? Would it be along religious lines, economic lines, both, neither?

It should be mostly along linguistic lines. Religious/economic lines would be much too messy.

I think it should go along Modern India and Old India

LOL so IT sector in Bangalore and Mumbai downtown -- 1 nation? :P

Exactly! Throw New Delhi in there as well

Khurram,

There are parts of Mumbai (Bombay) that are just as bad as parts of Bihar. Same goes for Bangalore and New Delhi. You'd have to establish a nation with only English-medium educated professionals out in the jungle somewhere... but then who would wash their dishes and make them nashta pani every morning?

I know what you mean. I've never been to my ancestral village either. It is in West Bengal, on the Bihar border. The population is now completely Biharis and the whole area is run by the Communist party. I asked my family when I visited India last if we can visit, and they said if we go, the Communist gundas won't let us enter the village. It's sad what has become to that entire area. Steeped in poverty, run by thugs.

Yes I'm Bengali/Bangali.

As for the interview, no ideas.... you are male, she is female, you're both desi... that is usually no problem at all. If USC is non-desi female, Islamabad/Delhi/Mumbai are more likely to investigate. Just make sure your wife is well rested for the interview and isn't nervous. They will probe on how you met, if you had a traditional shaadi with all the dhoom dhaam then bring the album. If not, be prepared for a more thorough probing.

You guys will be fine, don't worry too much. Good luck.
