Real question. I was looking for flights to Kolkata on NWA.COM and the BOM-CCU leg was on that airline. It's apparently a Kazakhi airline, I didn't realize they flew domestically in India.

Ah, ok. Do they have good deals?

I'm not seeing anything below 1200 for Aug..and that's on Gulf Air which is very inconvenient (2 stops, 1 of them overnight). We'll most likely book Lufthansa, they fly straight to CCU from Frankfurt. I'm looking at paying in the ballpark of 1500.

Went Suj went in March it was about 1320, with a pretty good flight schedule, but that was only to Mumbai. I'm guessing going farther to Calc would have made it even more expensive.

Whatever happened to the supposed lower fares to India because of some agreement that happened? I guess high gas prices aren't helping any.

Try airline consolidator tickets, you can get some great deals through them. One way I felt the agency booked my tickets, even though I bought it here, they asked me for an indian address, My gut feeling it got charged into Rupees so that help with the conversion. Check an indian airline travel agency, most of the indian magazines have them, I have used makemytrip.com once.

The Luggage requirements can be a problem, traveling from 50lbs US is valid until final destination. If the ticket is separated then you are at the mercy of the Local allowances.
