They told me to either call a week Friday or the following week or is it the week after that, then again maybe they meant to say another week sometime before the universe collapses on itself. :(

I think you pegged it right there, unfortunately.

SOMEONE has to get an interview!

Or perhaps Montreal has decided not to do IR/CR visa interviews either.

What if everyone who is waiting for an interview emailed NVC on the same day - and emailed Montreal at the same time.

Maybe then someone would put 2 and 2 together and realize there is a problem?

I'm sponsoring my parents on an IR5 through Montreal.

The case was NVC complete as of April 13th

I wrote my senator a week ago, and got a very prompt letter back (within 3 days) that he was going to contact both the NVC and Montreal to see if there was any additional information

Are IR5's processed at the same speed as IR1's?

I'm now at 6 month after NVC complete, and have absolutely zero information. I think I'm about to lose my mind. Any suggestions on calming techniques?

Mostly you just have to laugh at it, but I'm sure you have already hysterically laughed. Hmm let me see, how about meditation?

Will be very interested to see what your Senator comes back with. You know I think that all IR/CR applications are handled about the same in Montreal - ie: not handled at all recently (seriously).

This is all really convincing me to go the K3 route.

If I were doing it over again I would definitely consider that, although if you look closely, natb, right now the K3s are usually waiting much longer than the fiance K1 folks, and often as long as CRs & IRs, so if you're married already, I'm not sure that K3 route is necessarily a better bet.

What I still don't understand at all is the DCF option, but it seems that it might be a way to go too.

Others might have a clearer assessment to offer or links to other forum places with helpful info.

I sure wish this forum would let you edit your posts more than 30 seconds after you've finished.

I don't know if this is reliable info but the comparative table shown and the DCF comments fit what I think I've been hearing here so far:

http://www.***removed***/visas/kvisa/

I scanned through that (and other) websites and found that Canada isn't eligible for the DCF..of course! I can't seem to be able to post the complete link..grr.. http://www.***removed***/greencard/ ***removed***/ direct-consular-filing.html

We aren't married yet..we're trying to figure which procedure would work fastest I suppose. K1 seems to be it but the disadvantages of needing travel authorizations and not be able to work for a few months is swaying us away from it. Guess we should talk to an attorney or something for advice. If the K3 aren't processed in Ottawa which I need to confirm still then I suppose it'll only make sense to just stick it out another year and go with the CR1. :/
