Hi Everyone, I am hoping someone can help me out.

I am an American Citizen through naturalization. and I applied for I-129F for my fiance end of march 2007. It got approved and was sent to my fiance's consulate already. He just got an interview date which is beginning of June. The letter that he received stated that he needs to bring a copy of my certificate of naturalization and a copy of my passport.

When I applied for I-129F and had to show proof of my citizenship, I sent them a copy of my US passport because honestly I have no idea what happened to my certificate of naturalization. Apparently I am quite careless and misplaced it.

So now my question is...........is it going to matter so much if my fiance just shows them my copy of my passport instead of both? Because passport is still proof that I am a citizen and the application already got approved in the US without my certificate of Naturalization.

What can I do now? The interview is coming up.....

Any advise would be great.

Thanks a lot.

Send a certified copy of every page of the passport including the front cover, have a notary, notarize the copy stating that it is a true and accurate copy of the passport.

In the meantime get the Naturalization Cert replaced.

Thank You so much replying right away.

Where can I get this and I-134 notarized? Is it ok if I get it done at my work plac? I work in a non-profit agency and have someone who notarizes documents. Or does it have to be at a bank or some other place?

Thanks

Most banks have notaries, as well as most large companies, I work at a public college, and there are at least 12 people that are notary publics.

I have another quick question.........It might be a silly one but I dont want to mess anything up.

What do you mean by certified copy of the passport? How can I get it certified? I know how to get it notarized but how do you certify it?

The notary is certifying the copy by noting that the copy is a true and correct copy.

Not sure if the Naturalization Certificate number is really needed if you don't have or don't remember it but just in case you must provide the number, follow the instruction on this link below to obtain a copy of your passport record. It may take a while but the record will contain the Naturalization number since you must show that as a proof of Citizenship.
