Hello,

So myself and my partner are just in the process of gathering all we need to send in our i129. I know that there is going to be a long wait upon sending that off to a decision but one thing I have been wondering about is the medical (provided all goes well and they approve out petition of course).

About 5/6 years ago I went through a little bout of depression, I mean really mild. I was prescribed anti depressants though I never took the whole course of them as I felt they weren't aiding to my mood and I pulled myself out of it, honestly seeing the doctor about it was more to put my parents at ease than anything. Anyway I have one scar on my wrist, which is visible, worse because I picked the scab but not awful. This was never recorded in my medical notes because I kind of did it, realised it was a silly thing to do and it healed up. It was superficial at best. My concern now though is that it could possibly cause issues in the medical? I have not had any other issues since that time and even when it was going on there were not hospitalisations or visits or anything like that.

I have read various things about just getting a letter from your GP to confirm you are not a danger to yourself or anyone else and that time has passed.

Does anyone else have experience with anything like this and if so did you find it a problem or was it a non-issue?

Hey,

I made a more detailed post about this in the UK forum:

None of my scars were anything noted down at my GP, on the questionnaire you are required to complete, you need to state if you have ever harmed yourself. With regards to depression, the doctor will want a letter from your GP explaining and providing more detail about your depression, how it was managed, when you were diagnosed, when you stopped your medication, why you stopped, and then confirmation after that from your GP that there's no concern of you being a risk to yourself or others.

If there isn't any other information about those points, your doctor will need to write that "no other information is available". Knightsbridge won't pass it over to be reviewed if the information is incomplete, or if anything begs a further question if that makes sense. When they send it off to be reviewed they need to make sure that nothing will cause it to be returned, and that all information about any "significant" issue is provided.

I hope this helps.
