Hi Guys,

My case is a bit different. My fiance and I, actually had our interview last August on the 21st in Havana. However, we were told that because we had only been together for two years, that our relationship wasn't long enough. That in itself is not a reason for a denial, so despite having more than 500 pages of evidence of our 2 yr relationship, the person who interviewed us marked that we didn't have enough evidence. So we thought we were denied and began weighing our options. Shortly after that, the whole embassy issue in Cuba started so we paused pursuing getting married until this U.S. embassy in Havana re-opened. While waiting, my fiance got a call from the embassy saying he should take any more evidence he had before Nov 24th and the call was on Nov 20th, so he went and took more evidence that he had printed  and, thankfully, I always leave my flight boarding passes. They ended up keeping is passport. After that, for months are case on CEAC said it was AP. Until May, when they  called him to go pick up his passport in case he needed to travel to Guyana because they were sending them his case.

Last week, I emailed the embassy in Georgetown, Guyana because it had been a couple months and neither of us had been contacted. They responded that I needed to complete a new DS-160 and then register his case. Once I do that, I have to email them back letting them know that way I can schedule his interview and medical exam.

So I have a few questions:

1.) What is the approx. cost you guys have spent in the Guyana process? Mind you, we already paid for a medical exam in Cuba last year and all the other expenses. I just want to get an estimate so I know how much I need to save.

2.) Is it ok if my fiance stays in an air bnb instead of a hotel? Do they ask for a confirmation of a hotel rental?

3.) What is the approx time between when you were told to schedule the interview and the actual interview?

4.) Do you know if flights to Guyana leave from Camaguey?

Thanks everyone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey everyone. So my wife was approved! She received instructions on paying the USCIS immigrant fee and a sticker saying to go back to the Embassy to pick up her visa in 7 days. As of today, the CEAC page says visa has been issued and printed.

I'm a little confused though. Most people are picking up their visas within 1-3 days at a separate office called the CSRA document service center. Anybody have a clue as to why my wife needs to go directly to the Embassy to pick up hers?

HI, Congratulations Boricuba! Weppa. How long did it take you from NVC to give you the interview? PLease share.

I have been reading in this forum and it seems the wait time is aprox 7 months. March the 23th is already 5 months for me waiting for the interview. It is certainly a painful process that eventually will come to an end. It would help to know in advance since so many arrangements need to be made.

Good luck to you all.

Hi Guys I just got interview date for Mom. May the 14Th. She got approved October 23/2018 so over 5 months for the notice and 7 months for the interview. Go figure.

Make sure you book Havana Guyana roundtrip if you dont want to find issues at the airport. Copa seems to be the best way, shortstop in Panama, other iIfound they were far too long wait time at airports.

I'll keep you posted of my journey there and outcomes plus tips.

Good luck.

I got my mother's case sent in February 2018 and her case was completed by NVC in March 22nd 2019. We are now waiting for interview to be scheduled but  I had nowhere to find info about the waiting times. Thanks for posting! I was counting on the delay they have of 60 to 90 days but it seems that for parents (IR5) is a bit longer anyhow. I little bit anxious with the news of changes in immigration rates for families. It may get more delayed. I'll be praying for y'all, Good luck!
