It’s your number(or date) in line for whatever you are having processed. Yes, it is the same date that they officially receive your case. If you look at the processing dates for your specific case type, you will notice an “inquiry date”; you can’t inquire on your case until your priority date is current. You can ask about it, but they’ll tell you it’s within normal processing time.
