I need a little help - Seminole County - Florida
My daughter is just now having her Green Card application processed - We have been here 15 years - I am married etc ( money held us up on the process ) now my 1st question is : Do i have to wait on the Green Card to start the Adoption process?

2: There is no paternal father on the Birth Cert - Reason isn't a nice story ( my daughter does not know the reason either ) but there isn't a name - So there is no paternity to relinquish so that form has me totally stumped :(  i really dont want to have to spill the ugly details in front of my daughter either. -

I have decided to do this without a lawyer as i think that i can do it - I have faith in me lol ---- My daughter wants this so bad - my husband wont know until i have the paperwork ready and she is going to surprise him.

If anyone can shed some light on this please - I am very grateful

Charlotte.
(I have my Green Card :):)- My husband is a US Citizen)

Strictly immigration related, at  this point adoption will not make a difference. Any adoption that occurs now will be outside the scope of immigration.

You daughter can continue to go through the green card process and once she is here, your husband can start the adoption process.

Sorry I wasn't asking for the process, that will happen regardless, I was asking as she's a British Citizen and there is no dad on her birth certificate therefore no rights to relinquish on paternal dad's side ..... And no way of contacting, dad not known.... I just wanted to know if any other expats have had this situation arise.

I'm sorry we are also in the United States, 15 years now

Thank you for your kind response

Ah, ok.

There aren't many adoption cases on this board but I hope someone with experience will be able to chime in and help.
