Beginning the process from Visitor to AOS for my spouse

I (USC) decided this week, much to my spouses surprise, to file AOS. He's currently here as a visitor/tourist (WT).

 

Since I will likely return to this forum from time to time to seek guidance in the weeks to come, I thought it polite to introduce ourselves with a little background. We thank you in advance for any advice on our journey.

 

My spouse and I met in 1996 and have lived together in Taiwan since my return to the States in 2013.  My plan  was to stay for a year. However, I came up with a business idea and decided to remain and give it a try. 

 

Thereafter, and for the last 4 and half years, my spouse visited every 4 months for 85 days.  Each year I'm thinking the business would fail and we would return to Taiwan together. But the business just kept on growing.

 

In 2015, as we were driving through Reno en route to visit New Orleans, I  asked my partner to marry me.  As usual at the end of 85 days my spouse returned to Taiwan and continued visiting twice a year.

 

Anyway that's the short version of our background.

 

I spoke with a few different lawyers yesterday, if i give them a few grand, they didn't see a problem with doing the AOS from WT.  

 

Hmm,  I can always bring lawyers in when lawyers are really needed. So I decided to do the AOS paperwork on my own... with, i hope, a little advice from experienced forum members.

I'm not trying to be critical, but that statement makes me wonder if you have researched the process....Good luck.
