Problem registering CR1 immigrant visa interview appointmentr

I received an email from the NVC noting my immigrant visa appointment has been scheduled for April 17. The email directed me to the US Department of State Visa Appointment Service online. The website allowed me to create an account, but when I attempt to register the appointment, I receive an error message indicating: “The Immigrant Visa case number provided is not ready to schedule an appointment.” 

 

I submitted an email requesting assistance and received an auto reply telling me to try again in 5-10 business days. I called the Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada call centre and the employee said there is nothing he can do and I just have to wait 5-10 business days and try again. I explained that my interview is scheduled in Montreal and I need to make travel arrangements and book my physical and register for the courier service; 10 business days is two weeks and my physical needs to take place in three weeks, so that is cutting it close! He repeated there is nothing he can do and I just have to wait. I made an appointment for the physical anyway and made arrangements to stay in Montreal for a week (the physical needs to take place three business days prior to the interview and there is a weekend thrown in the mix). I am nervous my interview isn’t confirmed until I successfully register it online and I will make a trip there when it is not even scheduled. Plus I don’t want to experience further delays if there is something on my part I can do, as my husband and I have been living apart for a year and a half awaiting this interview. Has anyone encountered this issue? I am wondering if there is anything else I can do. And if it is possible to register for the courier service in the meantime.

I’m having the same issue! Got our appointment email today but the same error message appears when we try to register the appointment. Help!!!
