Hello,

my partner and I are starting our K1 visa process soon when we get back from travelling in just under 2 weeks.

She is American and I am from England.

I have lived in 3 different countries over the past few years as has she, and I know that I will need police certificates from all of the countries that I have lived in.

I just wanted to find out what part of the process I need all those documents for, as I will have to go to an embassy in London to get my Japanese one if my current one isn't valid (got it from the Japanese consulate in Australia, but it is addressed to the Australian embassy so I'm guessing it's no good).

I would really like to start the application whilst I am in the states visiting my fiancé's family for several weeks, as we are hoping that we get approved before Xmas and hopefully even Thanksgiving.

Depending on the answer it will determine whether I can apply sooner or if I will have to wait for when I return to England to apply... which means I probably won't be around for the holidays that year and will probably have to plan for something else.

Thanks in advance for all of your help.

You need it for interview.

and yes get one from japan again. Because japan normally gives them sealed and wants verification of where you give them.

The interview is near the end of the K1 visa process right? Pretty much one of the last steps?

Also my Japanese police certificate is still sealed, would I still need a new one?

Thanks.

Yes it is the last step.

you did not obtain that police clearance for us immigration, so I would get one more. You will need at least your noa1 to get it, to show where you will give it to.
