I just called NVC @ 10:40pm and was told my paper work was reviewed today 2/20/2018 but the Nigerian Police Certificate was not acceptable and was told by the rep to send a note indicating the Certificate is the only a copy and original will be brought in during interview.with the Certificate again (cert was issued 1/26/2018). I am trying to ask other Nigerians here who may have had the same issue to please guide/respond.

Also I checked the https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Nigeria.html and found the content below. Does this mean I need to submit the fingerprint card?

Police Certificates

Available

Fees: Over the years, applicants are known to have paid five thousand Naira for the Police Character Certificate. The fee should be in the form of a bank draft payable to the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Fingerprint Section, Nigeria Police Force.

Document Name: Police Character Certificate

Issuing Authority: The Nigeria Police

Special Seal(s) / Color / Format:  They are typically printed on white paper with red background lettering.  Seals are inked, most often in blue, black, or purple.  Bio-data is typed in Times New Roman font. Fingerprint cards must be submitted along with the police certificate.

Issuing Authority Personnel Title: Central Registrar, Deputy Inspector-General “D” Dept., For Inspector-General of Police

Registration Criteria: N/A

I think the Police Report needs to be sent with the finger prints cards. I have a picture copy sent but was sent with fingers of hubby holding it showing (he took a pic of it in Jan when he did it)!! He left original @ home in a different state, hubby is about to book a flight to go get the copy original.

I guess I answered my own question above...

It should have been 3 pieces of paper given to you by the Central Criminal Registry that you would need to submit to the NVC..The Police Character Certificate, the paper with biometrics (fingerprints), and the last one with history of criminal record (whether no criminal history or not) with passport photo attached..You will send a copy to NVC, but original has to be taken to the interview. Was it not acceptable because you didn't send in all documents or was it expired? Just be sure to get it in time for the interview.

I only got and sent the certificate because the list did not indicate anything more or less. I have now sent other copies as described in NVC reciprocity which is the same as you have described here.

Well I wonder why it wasn't acceptable if you sent in exactly what I mentioned? Did you or did not submit the fingerprint portion of the police certificate because if not that's why they are saying it is unacceptable? It's not the date because it looks like it was obtain recently..Just make sure to take all originals to the interview and you should be okay.

Okay, I just saw where you said you only sent the certificate only and that will be the reason it was unacceptable, but you have since then sent in all copies to the NVC...Great...Wishing you well on your journey!
