Interview and medical..

Hi guys,

I've done a search, and I can't seem to find what i'm looking for. Does anyone know, if the medical and Interview can be scheduled for either the same day, or within a couple days of each other? Reason i'm asking is because I live on The Isle Of Man, and it would mean time out of school for my daughter, and time off of work for me, and would make things much easier to do both things in one trip.

Thanks in advance :)

Dawn.

My husband had his medical and interview on the same day; his interview was in the morning, medical in the afternoon.

They may have changed the rules since then (September 2006) so double-check.

If you have the medical the day of, it delays the actual approval of the visa. They can approve you pending a satisfactory medical, but you don't get that 'walking on air' feeling when you leave the embassy because you're not actually approved YET. They don't let you know when they've got the medical results or even what the results are. You just get the visa by courier if everything's cool.

Just chill out; take it one step at a time. It'll be OK; I know dealing with the US government is a pain in the a$$ at the best of times. Just relax.

I'm assuming you are the UKC, correct? I know it's a faff getting to London from somewhere so remote; we live in York and though it isn't remote, we (my UKC husband and I) didn't want to make two trips so he had his medical and interview the same day. I can't see it being a problem though it will speed up your approval if you have the medical beforehand and leave enough time between the medical and the interview for your results to reach the embassy; it takes a few days.

You can do them both on the same day. However, they won't definitively tell you you're approved for the visas that day as it takes approximately 4 dyas to process the medical results. Definitley not a problem, just takes a few extra days for processing, which sounds like it would be worth it for you because of travel needs! Good luck!!!

Even to have them within a couple of days would help. Thanks for the help/advice guys. Much appreciated! :)

Yup, they'll approve you (assuming everything else meets their approval) pending medical results. As mentioned before, these take 4 days to reach the Embassy and then they have to process them. So I reckon if you do it this way, it means a delay of a week or two for your visa delivery.
