Police Certificate question

Hi there!

I don't know if anyone has been in the same position as I am, but I used to be a student under F-1 in the US and that's where I met my fiance! I'm waiting for our packet from the embassy as of now and read that I need to get a police clearance from anywhere I've resided for more than 6 months, which means the US counts, too. Do I have to obtain a police clearance from the US as well or would the NVC have access to that information? I have taken fingerprints before in the US for jobs and they've always come up clear.

So yeah I'm just wondering if I have to get police clearance from the US as well and if so, how would I go about doing that while I'm all the way over here in my own country?

Sorry if this doesn't make sense. I hope someone can help, thank you :)

USCIS runs a background check on you.

Oh great! And I’m guessing that cleared background check was what got our petition approved in the first place? So I’ll just only have to get a police clearance from my home country then? Sorry, just want to clarify!
