Infopass Confirmation Number & PIN?

I managed to get an appointment but want to try and get a better one that's not 2 weeks away by trying a couple of different USCIS offices. Is it advisable to cancel my existing appointment and then gamble on getting a new appointment? Or modify the existing one? Also - what format is the confirmation number supposed to be in? Mine shows "NYC-XX-XXXX" where X are numbers, then there's a 4-digit number in the bottom right, guessing that's the PIN? I enter these in various formats and its just giving me errors.

I just spoke with a USCIS official about my upcoming appointment (finally got my date, but it's at a very inconvenient date/time). They said that the only way to do so was if there were circumstances beyond your control (illness, hospitalization, death in family). It didn't sound like you can simply choose to reschedule, but I'd love to know others experience. The lady helping me was a little slow and didn't seem very clued on to the correct information.
