I am permanent resident and filed "I-130" for my spouse on april 2017 and my priority date is April 8 2017. Once i filed in april 2017, I got a letter from them stating that they got my application, after that i have never heard from them. Is it this slow for everyone or its just me?  And is there any way to expedite the process? How long does it normally takes to hear from them after the first notice ?

The whole process for a permanent resident to petition for their spouse would take around 2 years.

You can check visa bulletin to see where they're at now. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-bulletin/2018/visa-bulletin-for-january-2018.html

F2A category (spouse of permanent resident) is at Feb 01, 2016.

my concern is it's been almost 10 months and I haven't heard from them. And upon tracking it  its been giving me same message

"On April 8, 2017, we received your Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, Receipt Number WAC*********, and sent you the receipt notice that describes how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice"

Does it really takes this long for i-130 to be approved?

What service center is your case at?

Here's an example of California Service Center processing time.

It was updated 2.5 months ago, so they're probably processing cases for Nov 2016 now....

Hi! December 2016 filer here, and USCIS have not contacted us ever again, and our status is "Received". So, yes, it is taking that long at the California Service Center, since your receipt number starts with WAC, that means you are in it too.

The most recent approval I have heard of is at Nov 4th, 2016, it was yesterday I heard about it. It is not fair, but right now you have to be patient.

They are more likely to move forward when the filing date moves forward, so let's hope that happens on the March 2018 Visa Bulletin.
