I received my I-797 in the mail on 09/15/2017.  It said on the notice that my case would be forwarded to the NVC and I should wait for further instructions.  I was keeping track of other similar timelines and decided to call the NVC to see if they received my mail when other people started posting about getting case numbers.  They told they had not gotten my mail yet.  I only started to get worried after a month of them not getting anything from USCIS.  At this point I contacted USCIS and was told to wait for six weeks before bothering them.  I didn't want to wait that long since other people had already been through the NVC.  I felt like something was wrong with my case.  So, I kept calling USCIS and talking to immigration officers until finally someone offered to look into my case.  They requested an "expedite" on my case and that was the last information I could get out of USCIS.  Whenever I would call after this point they just told me to wait for another 45 days and be patient.  At this point my fiance was starting to get stressed out because we didn't have any control over the case progress and our expiration date is 01/14/2018.  We decided to try every avenue we could to get our case moving.  We contacted the ombudsman, my local congressman and the CSC.  Yesterday I finally got a response from the CSC.  They said, "Thank you for your email. In order to resolve your issue, we have forwarded your file to the adjudicative section responsible for considering your case. Your petition will receive a new validity date prior to being forwarded to the U.S. Department of State for K-1 visa processing."  I responded asking how long this would take and they told me they could not give me a timeline and that I should not contact them further.  Has anyone had experience with a situation like this?  Is there a way to track case progress at this point?  How long will this take?  I'm worried that our case will now be stuck for many more months and possibly expire. I honestly don't know what to do at this point.  Any insight is much appreciated.

I received a new approval date yesterday.  So, in case anyone ends up in this situation in the future, the process is pretty quick.  Now I just have to hope my re-approval paperwork actually makes it to the NVC this time!
