I am a programmer, didn't see that on the list, but do pretty well with it. Every day I thank the Marine Corps for introducing me to data processing  Semper Fi!

I'm a programmer too...I do mainly dbs and middleware but I can program presentation layers too. I want to get out of programming tho; I'm sick of the outsourcing sword of Damocles dangling over me.

sword of damocles eh? where's me scissors? :P

I thank the Naval Nuclear power program for my training. Plus I'm an excellent sewer, cleaner and ironer now too!!

My salary? 200 million (when I win power ball ;) )

that's why military men are so sought after by women. we already know how to cook, clean, and sew, and we're used to following orders

Child-care worker: $228

Wow. :(

how sad that a child care worker gets paid the least..........so pathetic

It's not, and I'll tell you why. Child care workers do not require a lot of training/education; it's not a job that you need a degree for. Ergo, people who do this are easier to replace than...say...a teacher or a doctor, since the potential pool of employees is much larger.

Second, increasing a child care worker's salary will increase the cost of the service to the people who use it, and if it gets to be more expensive per week than what a woman can earn (i.e. daycare bill becomes greater than weekly paycheck) then more women will stay home, fewer will use daycare centers, and those workers will lose their jobs.

It's just the way the free market works. There is nothing pathetic about it.
