This is a great thread! Very informative.

I hired a lawyer to do my AOS. This time, I'm venturing on my own to do my ROC on GC.

I have a few questions -

- Do I send two different checks -1) for filing fee of $595 and 2) for biometric services fee of $85?

or one check for $680 (for both amounts together)?

- Is it okay to use a 3-ring binder? I'm not able to find a 3-hole paper fastener and I am not able to use a 2-hole paper fastener (like Acco fasteners) that go at the top of the file. I am using a photo-folder that has a 3 holes punched on the left side.

- My taxes were done by a professional along with my husband's (My husband is a US citizen). I can't find any document named 'IRS tax transcript' in the folder that his tax-guy prepared for us. I have tax forms, but not a transcript. Is that document necessary?

- Do I have to send my original passport and original green card along with the application?

- We live in a remote area in the mountains. Hence, we don't get mail delivered directly to our home. Is it okay to use a different mailing and physical address?

Thanks a lot

You can send one check.

its recommended to send tax transcripts, you can request this from the IRS website.

do not send any original documents, just copies of everything.

yes, you can have different residence address from your home address, especially in your case. Just make sure you complete both on the form and identify which is which. There is a question where you are asked whether your mailing address is different from your residence.
