I am writing on behalf of my husband who has dual US/UK citizenship. He is in a full time care facility in the UK with dementia and I, his wife, have POA. I have been trying to find the right dept at the Embassy in London UK to change his payments to come to the UK as all the money goes towards his full time care but am unable to find any link on the UK Embassy site. Also, as his wife I believe I am also entitled to social security. I am at a complete impasse with this problem and would be so grateful if anyone can help me.

Regretfully unless you hold US citizenship here are the rules regarding your benefits as a spouse:

If you've paid in to the Social Security system through payroll taxes, you are entitled to retirement benefits as well as disability benefits, if you're unable to work because of a medical condition. In addition, your spouse may be eligible for survivors benefits should you pass away. There is no citizenship requirement, but survivors must be in the country legally to draw benefits.

USC's may collect their benefits in almost any country worldwide.  USC spouses who are non-USC's however are not entitled to benefits unless they reside in the US.

Is the correct place to start regarding his benefits.
