Hi,

To those who got their visa approved and are residents of the Philppines. Was it difficult to purchase a one way ticket? Usually when i've bought tickets for her before (for our holidays out of the Philippines), I've been told by a travel agent one time that it had to be round-trip tickets because she has a Philippine passport. Did you have any problems just purchasing a one way ticket to the U.S. for your fiance? The U.S. visa in her passport doesn't really state that she's an immigrant (which actually she's not yet) or anything that would prove she's staying for good. I just don't want to have to pay for a round trip ticket or an expensive one just so I could get a refund for half of it later.

thanks for any advice.

Hello,

The only problem was when my [fiancee then]wife now tried buying the ticket before she had her visa in hand. She was required to show her visa before she can purchase the ticket out of the Philippines.Once she had her visa, she went to a travel agent and booked her own 1 way ticket with Philippine Air to LAX,and payed for it with no problem.Their was no need to buy a round trip ticket when you have a K1 fiancee visa.

Hope this helps, good luck to you,

Scott

Thanks for the response everyone! I'll try doing that this monday - just check prices on tickets. I think the price for roundtrip will come out cheaper though. As far as I know it's the same - I mean round trip ticket is 2x the one way ticket. Funny advice KingQM but I think I'm not sending her back. We've been living together for over half a year now and I think she's irreplaceable. Cheers everyone!

I did go to a couple of travel agencies and when I said One way ticket they asked, "what type of visa" - As soon as I said Fiance Visa - they said it was ok to get the one way ticket. Just FYI for those who are also worried. Current price of one way ticket --- EVA has a good deal at $850 I think for their Evergreen something seats to LAX. Not quite Business Class but better than Economy. Sorry, I hate Economy on a 14 hour flight. I have a bad knee.

Get a round trip-the longest stay possible. In case you find out she's like most of the others. You might want to send her back. Or she may turn out to want to go back. Oh yeah its cheaper too.

If you think most are like that, then you are very ignorant. Does it happen? Sure sadly it does. Usually to older guys who don't learn the language also.

I could tell you horror stories about at least 5 guys I know personally that were TOTALLY screwed over by their WHITE AMERICAN wives. Cheating, money all kinds of bogus things to these guys. Is that representative of all American women???? I've seen a lot more Phil/American marriages last longer then others...

Arnold, as far as a one way ticket. Where is she flying into?? I've searched and found some good deals. I don't plan on spending more then $800-900 and I've found them as low as $700 and that's all the way to Detroit or Chicago.

Gonna try again.

I actually sent the money to Claudeth and let her buy the ticket there in Cagayan. She actually paid about $150 less than what I could find if for and didn't have any problems at all purchasing the ticket. Remember to get the CFO stamp in the passport

Hi Hornet,

We're travelling from Manila to LAX. I think the lowest I found was that EVA Air at around $850 and it's the wider seats and space - a bit above Economy but below Bus Class. I just didn't check yet what stop overs it had. Another low one was China Air but with a few hours stop in Taiwan. We still haven't finalized so I'm still shopping around. But let me know about those good deals you found. Thanks
