London Medical (Basil Mansions Address)

The appointment was for 14:15.

Tracy was here with me so we drove to Knightsbridge SW3, to the Basil Street address. There was a half empty car park not 1 minute walk from the address in Stackhouse Street. (Rate was £1.70 per 15 minutes). We arrived at Basil Mansions at 13:30, (half past one in the afternoon )

Once inside I was given an admittance form to fill which took all of 30 seconds, and they took my passport, photo and vaccination record.

A short while later they returned my passport and vaccination record. We had a little wait and then at 5 to 2 I was taken through for my chest X-Ray which took about 3 minutes. I was then referred to another waiting room. I sat there for about 20 minutes with no contact, so I went to the first waiting room and gathered my girl and brought her back with me, where we continued the lonely wait together.

After exactly one hour in total, I was finally called into the doctors room. A quick eye test, (cover one eye and read that sign), a few questions I had already answered on the packet 3 check-list, then I thought he was getting fresh when he asked me to take off all my clothes, (down to my grundies).

A quick listen to my chest, front and back with the stethoscope, and tapping on the back. Then a look in the wax haven of my ears and a glance at the back of my throat. He then applied the blood pressure tyre around my arm and after taking the reading used it as a tourniquet to insert the needle to take my blood sample. He had me lie down and he blythly inserted his hand into my pants and apologised whilst asking me to cough. I never knew I was a falsetto!

He then did a reflex test on my Achilles tendons and ran a stick up the soles of my feet. I giggled. At this point he said that that was all he needed me for and I could get dressed. I shook his hand with as much nonchalance as one could muster with a guy who had just handled my crown jewels and went to get Tracy from the waiting room so we could pay the £170 smackeroonies for an X-Ray and 15 minutes worth of doctor's time. The nurse gave us the DS-3025 and stamped "paid" on it. She advised us that probably on Wednesday, (3 working days later), the results would be couriered, same day, to the embassy.

All in all, we were in there for nearly an hour and 3/4. The car park cost £15.30 but because I am a cabbie I was exempt from the extra £8 congestion charge.

I think the high medical fee is for the pleasure of sitting on their chairs and reading the old magazines perhaps?

A good funny description! So what would happen if the Doctor found you had a Hernia? Refuse you entry based on that? !!
