Country/authority passport DS-160 Question

Hello,

I'm from Yemen and I live in Egypt. I applied before to obtain F-1 visa and I got it. After I finished the language course I returned back to Egypt where I live. I will apply to F-1 Visa soon for the bachelor degree. While I'm checking my previous DS-160 form I noticed that I Chose Egypt for "country/authority that issued passport/travel document" Question because in my passport it's written: "Issuing authority Cario"  while my passport is Yemeni and I got the renewed my passport from the Yemeni Embassy. Should I choose Yemen for that question for the new DS-160 form? or should I choose Egypt like I did before and I got the visa? because I afraid If I choose Yemen this may raise red flags. Thank you!

You're Yemeni. The only issuing country or authority would be your country, Yemen. Even if you renewed your passport at the Yemeni embassy in Cairo, that still doesn't change the fact that it's a passport issued by the Yemeni government, NOT  Egyptian government. The Yemeni embassy is part of the Yemeni government, NOT Egypt.

You can't fool the US government agencies and embassy because your nationality would betray you when you list yourself as a Yemeni even if you note that Egypt is the issuing authority of your passport.

ALWAYS be honest when completing all US government forms because you sign under the penalty of perjury.

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.

The bolded part, did that concern have anything to do with the Executive Order that's currently in place?

No, my concern that I afraid the Visa officer may compare my mistake in the previous visa application which was "Egypt for the "country/authority that issued passport/travel document" question with "Yemen" which I will choose for the new application for f-1 visa.

Fair enough, just be honest if asked. Hopefully you'll get your F-1 :)

Thank you :) Do you think it was big mistake? and do they usually compare old DS-160 forms with new ones? also, if they ask me should I tell them I was confused? because I was really confused at that time when I answered that question.

I am not 100% sure if they compare the old DS-160. However, I am pretty sure they have records of past visa interviews because my subsequent B2 visa interviewing CO asked me very specific things from my previous B2 visa interview. It's almost creepy. No matter what, us visa applicants just need to be honest or we'd have a hard time trying to keep track of any lies that were told.

In your case, you can tell the CO that you were confused because your passport stated your issuing authority was Cairo. I guess Cairo was supposed to mean the Yemeni embassy in Cairo?

I will be fully prepared at that time. You see? it's confusing (Issuing authority: Cairo) I don't know why they wrote it like that. Anyway, I really appreciate your responses and I wish you all the best :)
