I love driving. I'd drive even if the price of gas hit $10 / gallon.

assume:

$10/gallon

20mpg vehicle

1000 mile trip

1000miles/20mpg = 50 gal

50 gal x $10 = $500

For $500 you can haul yourself, several people and lots of gear. Much cheaper than flying.

It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

There's a Washington D.C. coalition against foreign oils that consists of former CIA director, presidential administration, etc... that is working on a solution to abandon reliance on foreign oils since it funding nations that is indirectly sponsoring terrorism, and making other nations who hate America more wealth.

A hydrogen car gives approximately 100 mpg. Only one exist in the US and under experimental stages from GM. It costs about 1 million dollars. The test is in California. They have a large area of solar cells use to separate oxygen from hydrogen at the tank fill up station. However, it takes a lot of time to separate the two elements using electrolysis. The car works. The feasibility of applying it to a national scale is nearly impossible due to scarcity of land for solar cells.

MIT have come up with a new solar cell module that is approximately 75% efficient. The problem is that it's not consistent with that efficiency since 75% was the highest efficiency obtained under experimental conditions. If we will adapt, we must find other methods to harvest the tremendous energy from the sun.

Range is a problem with hydrogen cars

BMW had a fleet of hydrogen cars in 2000. GM has 1 now?

"Yesterday, BMW announced its hydrogen-powered 7 Series sedan would be loaned out to everyday drivers to test the new technology’s real-world abilities. Other companies, like Honda, have done pilot programs with their hydrogen-powered vehicles, but with extremely limited testing of one or two cars. BMW will loan a fleet of 100 Hydrogen 7s to prospective users in the U.S. and Europe in the first half of 2007. "
