Hi all...having trouble finding an average timescale for the time between submitting your financial evidence and supporting documents and getting the interview date. I am in the UK. We are wondering whether we should bother to book me a flight/stay to USA before the interview. We submitted 3 weeks ago and at the moment it says allow up to 11 weeks for acknowledgement of receipt and then we obviously have to wait for the interview date which could be more than 2 months away.

Thanks in advance!

I wouldn't book until you have an interview date. Yeah it may be slightly more expensive but at least you won't be wasting £600+

I feel like it's like a Murphy's Law of immigration...that if you make travel plans while in any stage of USCIS processing, your plans will have to be cancelled! If you're booking a non-refundable ticket I would suggest holding off. USCIS is nothing if not unpredictable so trying to predict based on average timelines is not really a safe bet.

When you submitted documents 3 weeks ago, was that your initial evidence that you submitted with I-130 or did you receive an RFE for more evidence?

You are advised never to book non refundable travel until after you receive your visa in your hand.

Even people who have had their interview and have been verbally told they are approved have fallen foul of random things happening that meant that in their entusasium of having been told at the interview they have been approved have booked their flights only to find they then have been put in additional processing for one reason or another that has led to them losing the money for the flight.

Yes that was our financial documents and supporting evidence, birth certificate etc. We haven't had a receipt that they've received it yet.

We'd definitely be booking a refundable ticket but wondering whether we could fit in a good month long visit before we even hear back. I don't know why I am worried about them suddenly processing our case with haste as it hasn't been that way the entire time haha. But still....was just wondering what the general amount of time was between submitting and interview date.  I know, how long is a piece of string etc.
