Hello, all. I filed N-400 application based on 9 years of permanent residency in March 2016. The interview was in June 2016. The officer stated that supervisor's sign-off was required due to 2 arrests over 10 years ago for domestic violence (no charges filed, cases dismissed and record expunged). The original green card was received through marriage to a US citizen. We no longer live together, but didn't get a formal divorce because he left the country and it is difficult and expensive to get a divorce across the ocean. It hasn't been a top priority to me. I am a single parent raising a small child. I explained it to the officer. After 8 months of no response from USCIS, I requested USCIS Ombudsman's, Congressman's and Senator's assistance. USCIS responded that my case was pending mandatory security checks. I was thinking about filing a writ of mandamus against USCIS...

All of a sudden I get a notice for a second interview with the same officer who interviewed me the first time this week. They ask me to bring photo ID, passport and my son's birth certificate. Has anyone else had similar experience??? I am freaking out here.... not sure what to expect. Thanks

i think it is a good sign. it seems like they are not asking for whole a lot of documents, so there is less stuff that they want to verify/confirm. But as a back-up bring as many documents as you can collect about your case. those court documents, lease/mortgage documents, paystubs, employment history, etc. if possible come with your child, so that they can see your bond and connection and care. you are allowed to bring your kids.

Relax, this is not a race.
