Do you remember the questions you've been asked?

What a day! Today was my N-400 interview. I arrived 20 minutes late for my 9 am appointment, and as you can imagine, my IO was not happy at all. She had all the reason to be angry and to even cancel my appointment. She was a professional, asked for reasons for being late, which I shared and apologized for. I chose not to request my wife and newborn to join the interview after sensing that she wasn't happy.

Anyway, we went through the civic test, six questions that were asked are; What is the national anthem called?, What took place on September 11, 2001?, Name the ocean on the west coast?,  What war did Dwight Eisenhower fight? and Who does a Senator represent?. That was followed by reading a sentence and writing a response mentioned. We went through all those yes and no questions when applying for N-400, and also verifying every information I submitted and a few additional ones that she deemed necessary to note down, based on responses to some questions. She asked for updated information showing that my wife and I are still together and living in the same quarters. She requested taxes she didn't have, like the latest (2017), recent bank statements and anything else I had. I had originals of my taxes and no recent bank statements. She told me that she'll wait till I submit the outstanding documents to make a decision. I requested to go into the nearest printing place and make copies and retrieve my banking statements online and submit them within the hour. She liked the idea, and the interview was over. I could tell that she was a no nonsense person, but a good person. I just wish that we didn't start on the wrong footing (lack of punctuality).  I found a nearest UPS and got all the outstanding information. Out of curiosity, I checked my status, and it reflected the outcome of the interview, which was a Request for outstanding evidence requested. I went back and submitted the requested documents within an hour.  It was around 5 pm when I checked my status again, and to my surprise, my status changed to:

Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled

We placed you in line for your oath ceremony and will send you a notice for Receipt Number IOEXXXXXXXXXX, with the date, time, and location of your oath ceremony. You should receive your notice within 30 days of its mailing date. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

I want to thank this community for its guidance and support during this process. I am also thankful to the IO, who could have cancelled the opportunity to be approved. What I have learnt in this journey is that, as much as we speculate about our outcome, we aren't far from truth. We are all impatient and should because this process isn't definite. I do believe that most of us who are here will get there. As much as we try to assess our cases based on others, they are treated differently, all based on its strength and assessment of the IO, because that's who recommends. I hope my story can motivate even those who falter at times, to believe in this process and that persistence is key.

Thank you!
