Birth certificate translation

Hello,

 

I have a question on behalf of my husband., that seems to me at least illogical: Does it make any difference that I send a PDF of my birth certificate to the translation company knowing that later I'd be sending a printout of their electronic translation and certificates alongside the original of my birth certificate? For my husband there is a difference in sending a PDF as opposed to the original to the translation company. Is there any difference really? After all the translation will be of a photo copy of the original document and written And certified on a separate piece of paper.

and I hope that the translation and certification can be simply printed off the computer could anyone confirm it?

If you are just sending a copy of the birth certificate to the translation company, a PDF softcopy via e-mail is OK. Reason being, all information will still be the same as the original or photocopy. No one should be sending their original documents for translation anyways because they have no business to be holding or having the original documents.

 

As for the translation with the certification included, it's best if you could get the copies with original (wet) signature by the translator.

Not a problem @Mishka79. Just make sure that the translation includes the following certification by the translator as per the USCIS' page:

 

Please submit certified translations for all foreign language documents. The translator must certify that s/he is competent to translate and that the translation is accurate.

The certification format should include the certifier's name, signature, address, and date of certification. A suggested format is:

Certification by Translator

I [typed name], certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and [enter appropriate language] languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the document attached entitled [enter title of document].
Signature
Typed Name                               
Address
Date

 

And really, nobody wants to lose an original document due to a third party's negligence
