Hi,

I posted in another section, not realizing this section specific to the Philippines existed as well. Sorry for any double posting.

According to the online visa status check, my father in law was issued his visa today. However, his medical exam will expire on March 1st (was stuck in admin processing for a while). Since the chances of receiving his visa in the mail and then immediately flying our are unlikely, what happens if he is unable to fly out? Are we able to update just the medical portion and the visa remain valid or will we have to go through the entire process again? My wife emailed the embassy this morning, but I assume we will get a faster response here. Thanks for any help.

2GO  will deliver the visa.

When did your FIL complete the medical?   6 months ago?   (lots of unknowns here)

The embassy will not issue a visa if the medical is expiring before the person can enter the USA, they will request a new medical be completed.

Validity dates for the visa is printed on the visa.

Here is contact info for the embassy, including a USA phone number:

Contacting the Embassy (Manila)

Manila Visa Information and Appointment Service center hotlines at (632) 976-8500, (632) 976-8501 or (632) 976-8502.

The center is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (Manila time), except on Philippine and U.S. holidays.

Callers in the U.S should call (703) 520-2235 on its Eastern Standard Time equivalent of operation hours.

Skype: To use Skype to speak to a customer service representative Monday Friday from 8:00am to 8:00pm., please add a new contact to your Skype account with the Skype name ustraveldocs-philippines.

Thanks for the reply. The medical was early September; however, in earlier correspondence with with the embassy, we were told his medical is expiring on March 1st.

My wife got a hold of someone at the embassy an hour ago. They are unable to put any kind of hold on the visa to try and renew medical or do anything else to help us out. They basically said if there isn't enough time to travel to the US prior to expiration, to email them and explain the situation and they will work with is in renewing everything.

My wife and I have figured out that as long as he gets the visa by Monday  (2go pickup in central Luzon, not delivery) we can get him into the US by 8 am Tuesday. Keeping our fingers crossed....

I agree.  Arrive before 1 March and all is good!!!

Do remember to pay the ELIS fee so that he will get his green card.

Upon entry at POE your FIL will get a I-551 stamp (green card) in his passport, valid for a year.

Your faster point of entry is Guam.  Four hour flight from Manila.

Thanks! 2go has his visa in transit now and should hopefully be there Friday or Saturday. If worst comes to worst, we'll definitely look at getting him to Guam.

Doesn't matter too much on that, as you are flying BACK IN TIME, arriving in the USA only hours after taking off in Manila
