It looks like you definitely need a PCC from the passport office of your local area, even if it is not the one that issued your passport. Anyone, is this right or must one go to the office that issued the passport (even if it was years ago) to get a PCC?

“POLICE REPORT: Each applicant aged 16 years and older must submit a police certificate that includes information regarding the applicant including all arrests, the reason for the arrest(s) and the disposition of each case(s). (A) Indian citizens residing in India for six months or more since turning 16 years of age must present Indian police clearance certificates from both their district police station and the local area passport office. Applicants whose passports were issued within six months of the visa interview may present just the passport office certificate. These certificates are valid for one year from the date of issuance.”

I wonder if there is any helpful Consulate in India that would answer your question (via email maybe)?

Has anyone out there received approved visas that got the PCC from a different passport office then where their passport was issued?

When my guy tried to get a PCC from Hyderabad passport office, they told him to return to the office that issued the passport. That was Visakhapatnam so he went there and got the PCC. (The passport was only 7 months old.) Now he is again trying to get the PCC from a local police station in Hyd (because he has lived there last 2 years), they told him to go to the Commisioner of Police office and be ready with Rs 1,200 :o and he will get the PCC very quickly.

However I know India is a country that ADJUSTS so maybe you should just go ahead and try to get the PCC from the local passport office, and see what they say.

Good luck!

New Delhi Consulate.

She has been in various hostels over the years in Delhi, and her permanent address is in Haryana; Chandigarh Regional passport office.

So, will she need a Passport office clearance from Chandigarh, AND local police clearance from ALL local police stations where her hostels were located over these last few years??

For those of you who have been through the process, how long does it take to get the Passport office clearance? how about the police certificate?

Is it a simple one day thing or a pain-in-the-----?

Joe
