hi to vj. i have interview k3 this week and cr1 2 week later. i want to enter on cr1 but do not want turn down k3 interview. it is ok to get both visas? i am unclear if I tell the interviewer about the two interviews, what is advice on this?

I think you will be advised to pursue CR since the interview appointments are really close to one another...

Even if i not mention the cr1? i like to request the cr1 on wednesday but i also like that it is kind of security blanket to go for both you know?

You cannot be issued two visas. Appear for K3 interview and request if you can interview for CR-1 instead as it is the superior visa. Embassy can either grant your request or tell you to appear again for CR-1 interview.

My wife was going to Basilan from Cebu to visit her family before coming to USA. The Boat leaves Cebu on Monday, but it is Election Day Monday. Does anyone know if the boat will still leave on monday? If not will it leave on Tue. instead? Or will boat delay until the next monday?

As far as I know, since transportation serves the national interest, airplane and boat schedules remain normal throughout the year. The only thing that can stop them from flying or sailing is Mother Nature. If Mother says no, there's no arguing with her. Right ladies? :innocent:

Happy Mother's Day to all! (F)

Why is it people get two visas then? It make no sense to me hehe. Also other have both interviews close together, some may enter us on k3 then return to home country for CR1 interview. There are a few people here who already have both, confused why you say that?

I think the only explanation I can think of for this is if the interview appointments are far away from one another. If you are in a hurry to be together, the best way is to pursue K3, otherwise, take the CR. I think others got 2 visas (I'm not sure about this) because the interview appointments of their K3 and CR are far from each other...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

Mae is correct, if one is in a hurry to be together, beneficiary can interview for K3, fly to the US (K3 expires once used at POE), wait out the CR-1 and come back for interview. Beneficiary ends up holding just one "valid" visa if CR-1 visa is granted as K3 expired upon POE. This supports the statement that she cannot be issued two visas at any one time. One has to be cancelled or expired before new visa is issued.

It's the same thing with having a tourist visa. My B1-B2 was cancelled as soon as I appeared for my K1 interview as I cannot hold two valid visas at the same time.

I have not heard of a Manila case that was granted CR-1 interview in lieu of K3 but only because it's only now that CR1 is being processed as fast as K3s such that we are only hearing of interviews being scheduled 1-2 weeks apart. Usually, K and CR interviews are set 3-6 months apart.

There's a couple here who have K3 and CR-1 interviews scheduled 2-3 weeks apart but the beneficiary was asked to appear again for CR-1.

You may the first case to be granted so it won't hurt if you ask. Let us know then what happens.

So you think that if she arrives at 9:20 or so to the embassy with a 7:30 appointment they will let her in?

Yes, as long as there's a line outside the embassy and she appears on the appointed date, she will be let in.

Congrats to terps76 and w1n78. Also to Marie and Bryan. Happy together!!! Congrats to Starprog for completing NVC.

It's the same thing with having a tourist visa. My B1-B2 was cancelled as soon as I appeared for my K1 interview as I cannot hold two valid visas at the same time.

the k-3 is a multiple entry visa valid for two years. i would think if you fly back to the Philippines for CR-1 interview, the K- would be cancelled when you go to the CR-1 interview.

Oooppssss!!!! Good catch, Roy! My mind is still processing K1!!!

Yes, K3 is valid for multiple entry and will be cancelled once CR-1 is issued. Thank you, Roy!

Well, i was not plan on flying to US because CR1 interview is only 2 weeks after K3 interview. I really just think that the embassy will know I have 2 interviews if I dont mention it to them? I would think they would go ahead with both then. But it make me nervous because the interview is this wednesday. I still not sure what to do.
