Hello everyone

I am an F1 student currently in school. I married my wife about 2 years ago and we are about to file AOS

2 years ago when my wife(then fiancé) was getting her taxes done at Liverty Tax, the tax lady advised her to get assisted healthcare under Obamacare because she didn't make much money and didn't have insurance. The lady insisted on signing up all household members(me and my wife) to sign up. My wife didn't think of anything and got me signed up(the tax person did my taxes too, we filed individually as we weren't married at the time) and got me under our state's Medicaid/assisted health insurance plan(according to her, international students qualified under state law). I was not there during the process. I was already covered by the health insurance I bought from my university(all F1 students are mandated to have insurance). I used that health insurance only for vaccination as my ne did not covered vaccines and got it terminated.

my second confusion is Regarding my birth name. Before I came to the US I had a full  name change but forgot to mention in the F1 DS160. I just found out by looking at the copies of the paperwork.

Would there be any issue regarding Medicaid and the old name? I have the Medicaid termination letter and proof that I purchased health insurance that year and wish to disclose my birth name in all the AOS paperwork.

Thanks for reading!

I think as long as you are honest regarding the Medicaid and the name change, you will be fine.

Yes, you should be sure to disclose your prior name on the AOS paperwork where it asks if you have any "other/former/prior" names. You should also be sure to answer yes to the "public assistance" question on the AOS question section and include an explanation similar to that above (but maybe with more detail).
