Questions re: I-485 Interview

On February 16th, my Nicaraguan husband has his I-485 interview. 

2 questions

1) We will need an interpreter. Do I simply hire an interpreter for 2 hours for the interview appointment?

It is in Lawrence, MA so I suppose I will look for interpreters in this city.

 

2) My husband has children from previous relationships that live in Nicaragua. Required documents are custody papers. He does not have any custody papers and drafting custody papers is not something very common in Nicaragua.  Advice? How should we proceed?
