Timeline from NVC to Consulate

4 posts in this topic

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

According to the NVC website our case is still in 'Transit' (since December 22, 2016). Also we got a letter from NVC informing that.

Could I start collecting data (birth certification and police record)???? or Should  I wait for the Consulate letter instructions (including interview date)?

I am afraid since starting Jan 20 a new ambassador and also staff will be taking care of Consulate in San Jose, Costa Rica. Maybe it may cause more delays.

Have a nice day,

Yes.  If I were you I would start collecting the necessary documents.  The required documents are all pretty much the same.  But a good place to start is birth certificate, police records, any divorce documents, etc..  The USC will also need to compile the necessary documents to complete the I-134 such as Federal tax returns , Federal tax transcripts, etc.  The faster you start the process the faster you will be able to schedule an interview.

Hope that helps.

Thank you very much.

I have a big doutb, should I wait for the interview date provided by NVC (I have no idea when it will be, however its page says thay my case is in "Transit" and the interview was provided by them) or should I set up a different one?

On Monday I will ask for my birth certificate and police records, since both should be translated.

Best regards,

Not sure about your specific embassy, but in the Philippines, we we were able to schedule our own interview date even though the letter said that you will be provided with an interview date.  Hopefully, someone with Costa Rica experience can provide you with more information.  Also, it only took 24 hours for our packet to be sent from NVC to Manila.  The status changed 24 hours later.
