Hello everyone,

If your visa is issued, will the Consulate contact you by any means?

And how would one know when it is okay to pick up the passport from the DHL in Victoria Island..??

Thanks

OH YES! My experience.

Thank you Soulstriker.

My experience through the lanes of this visa journey was a pretty fair one.

Things happened quite fast from the moment of initial approval.

I had to come back to Nigeria from the UK, having recided in the UK for almost 6years.

I'd always wanted to settle in the UK, but my wife-to be thought otherwise.

She preferred the States and pulled all the necessary strings to get that.

That said.

When I got to Nigeria, I did my medicals, paid the visa fee and scheduled the interview appointment same day.

But yah! I did that mistake!!

Having always believed (as is on the US website) that the K-1 visa belongs to non-immigrant class, I went on to schedule a non-Immigrant appointment for the interview.

On the non-immigrant page, I didn't see the K1 options, hence I assumed it was okay to book the B1/B2 appointment ?.

So when I got to the Consulate on the 23rd of September all prepared, I was summarily asked to reschedule the proper interview.

Which means another $265 payment. Oh Lord!!

However, I rescheduled another interview date and I was there on the 31st of October.

After all the protocols were observed, I presented myself at the desk to a white lady with short hairs for the interview.

She was very lovely and it was one of the shortest interview I can remember.

After I took the oath and offered my finger prints,

she asked me: How did you meet your fiancée?? I answered.

She asked me again: What were you doing in the UK and for how long..?? I answered.

She said: Well, everything here looks perfect.

Then she gave me some documents and said I should pick up my visa in 10days. Wow!!

Ouch! We started making travel arrangements immediately and putting plans into actions.

Nevertheless, after 2 days or so, I got an email stating that the IO who interviewed me would want to see me again. #Sad.

I guess that should be one of my saddest days. May be because of the time interval. It was one month apart!!

Anyway, I went to the second interview and I met with the same lady.

She said there were some discrepancies on my Bio data regarding an application I made to another country earlier. At first, she wanted me to bring forth some supporting documents so as to authenticate my claims.

Nonetheless, I did clarify the situations and it was okay from all indications.

After some consultations and assessments,

She said: I have decided to issue you the visa and I wouldn't want you to bring any more supporting documents.

At that point, I had to say a very big "Thank You" to her and left the consulate peacefully.

And the rest is history and laughters...
