Hi

I have questions regarding my husband eligibility for citizenship(he's Canadian)He is a permanent resident since December 2010.He's been out of the country a lot but always kept working for the same US based employer. I'm Canadian and we'll file for the F2A visa soon.

During the last five years he was out from:

2012

January 1st to 2nd

August 30th to december 31st(2012 stops here but he remained outside of the US)

2013

January 1st to january 5th

January 7th to July 13th

July 18th to August 18th

December 15th to december 31st( he remained outside of the us)

2014

January 1st to January 6th

February 20th to february 24th

May 10th to May 14th

july 17th to septembre 10th

Decembre 4th to Dec 31st(remained once again outside the US)

2015

January 1st to 2nd

March 23th to 28th

July 22th to October 21st

October 24th to December 13th (short transit In the US)

December 13th to December 19th (short transit In the US)

December 19th to 31st (remained In the US)

2016

January 1st to 2nd

March 17th to 27th

June 17th to October 26th

October 28th to December 15th

I know it seems like a lot of time out of the US( Right now I cant even count the total of days for each year but I will...) but my husband is a professor and always kept his job in the US and was always paid during that whole time. He always filed his taxes un the US. His job allowed him to spend a lot of Time outside of the US (research and writing). When he was outside of the US he didnt have a lease.

Besides providing a letter from his job is there any evidence that we could submit to prove that He maintained a continuous residency.

Thanks in advance

Here are the numbers for the days he was out of the USA if I calculated them correctly:

2012-126

2013-241

2014-100

2015-99

2016-184

In the last five years that totals 750 days outside of the USA. In the eligibility worksheet it says that you cannot be out of the USA for 30 months or more, which is 2.5 years, which when you translate it into days is 912.50 days. He is fine, but I would suggest he stays in the country until he gets citizenship as he is only 162.5 days from being ineligible for citizenship. If he goes for another 6 month trip before applying for citizenship he will be ineligible to apply for citizenship.

My calculations could be off by a day or two above.
