2nd Biometrics for Pending N400

Hello Visa Journey Friends,

I applied for my N400 in July 2016, and got done with my Biometrics in August. In September, I moved to PA from NJ due to my full time job and I updated my new address on USCIS website. Since then, I have been waiting for my interview letter, but in the first week of November, I received another Biometrics Appointment letter. I called 1800 number, and talked to a Level 2 immigration officer, who told me that there was an administrative error and that one of the system shows that you didn't go for your first Biometrics, however, they had my Biometrics info in another system. The officer told me not to go for second Biometrics and just continue to wait for interview letter. I am waiting for my interview letter and I am little worried about this and will appreciate your thoughts on this. Has anyone experienced this situation before? How long it takes to get an interview letter in such circumstances. I will really appreciate your feedback.

We have the same issue in March 2016 we have done fingerprint and in April again received letter for again fingerprint we have done again. From till time waiting for interview but as for our experience if u have received letter u need to go for fingerprint again ..

Thanks. Did you call 1800 to ask why they have not scheduled you for an interview yet?

They don't have enough knowdldge. We have called them twice and they reply 6months are normal timing and some time overloaded office may effect on delay.

It happened to me. I already had my fingerprints taken in first week of August. Then I got a second appointment in first week of November, after second appointment, I got a third one now on November 29th. I called USCIS officer, they don't seem to know anything. So the only thing I know is that we do have to attend all of our appointments, otherwise their computer system will mark our case abandoned and our file will be closed. Then we will have to refile.

Don't trust the information off the toll free number, I hate to break the news to you but none of the people answering those phones are actual immigration officers. I am an Immigration Officer with USCIS for the past 20 years now, and I can guarantee you that we do not have any positions at all in our offices that work at the call center. Every single person you speak to at that toll free number are contract staff members, they are not even actual Federal employees. Believe me they would not pay me my GS-12 salary to sit on the phone all day and answer immigration questions. As officers we have complained for years about the wrong information that is always given by the people answering those phones. I have no idea what kind of training they get but I can assure you they are not Immigration Officers. I hate that toll free number because it misleads so many people.

I am an ISO II level officer that is currently a ASC manager at one of our biometrics ASC offices here in the U.S. Please just go to the closest ASC and they will tell you if you have to have your biometrics taken again. Just take the time and go to the ASC office on your appointment letter. I can tell you that we have been having an issue and problems with the new NASS computer system that does the scheduling for all the biometrics appointments. We have complained time and time again to our Biometrics division in HQ and they are trying to work out the glitches in the system, Sometimes we have to re-fingerprint you and sometimes we do not. Sometimes there are problems with the biometrics being attached properly to the computer system that the citizenship branch uses to process your application and on their side it doesn't look like you appeared for biometrics yet they are in the system.

So if you do get another ASC notice just please go to the appointment and bring all your ID and your resident card and the ASC manager will let you know that day if they really do need to take your biometrics again. Sometimes we do not and we send you home, but it's worth it just to show up and let us do the checking for you.

@ptm897 can you please tell if biometrics can be wrongly attached. Case where someone's biometrics shows up in my case and how long will that take usually to fix. Do I need to reappear for biometrics ? I could not find any information about wrong biometrics being attached online to understand the aftermath process.
