My wife has her visa interview in 2 weeks and the only thing I'm concerned is the police certificate. My wife and I sent her Japanese police certificate(native country) and her Canada police certificate(stayed less than a year) to NVC. Does she still need to bring her police certificates to visa interview because there is no time for her to get her certificates on time if that's the case. I only have a copy of her Canadian police certificate. Please let me know. Thank you.

Hi

when i requested my police certificate i asked for two certified copies. I sent one to the NVC and kept one for my interview just in case the interviewing officer asked for it. The NVC should send everything to the place where your wife is having her interview.

I would recommend having the police certificate with you.

All the best to your wife at her interview.

If you can't get the Japanese certificate in time, then you can't. Go to the interview and be honest about it. The officer will likely have the copy that you sent to NVC as a part of the file. In the worst case, they will ask you to schedule another interview when you have the missing document.

And as you've now learned, *always* make copies of everything you sent. And take all of your copies with you. It makes it so much easier when you can prove that you have all of the paperwork done.

Regards,

Bill

In my husband's country he had to have 2 and one was only good 90 days

this concerned me as i sent them to NVC and it was over the 90 (almost a year ) later that he got his interview

but the criminal investgations were on the checklist as not needed / NVC recd these

so, check your list and see what is needed at interview

it clearly states when something is needed and to bring it

it will say A obtain the original and bring it or certified copy to interview

or D NVC sent this document or US embassy

or J NVC only recd a photocopy / you must present original at interview

look at the code checklist and do as it says
