Hello vj members! I am here again and needing help.. I am a filipina and my son is 2 years and 4months usc.. We filed for crba last year december and got his Us passport february of this year.. I understand that my son is naturally born here so he has the right to obtain a phil passport as well to exempt him on paying the expensive exit permit (ecc).. but when i went to bi to confirm this matter they told me that i need to do the recognition process so he can apply for a phil passport.. Now i am lost.. What route should we take?? ... Why in the world does he needs a recognition of being a filipino , it is so obvious that he was born here when, he has a Nso/psa record. Visa processing is already a stressful road so i hope leaving the country will be more easier !

You son completed CRBA which granted him U.S. citizenship, and that is why the need to complete the Recognition process to establish his Philippine citizenship (again).

Whether completing the Recognition process or pay the ECC fee is your decision. If you have the time I would suggest the Recognition process and getting the Philippine passport ... it will be appreciated in later years.

Visa chase and citizenship.. DONE!

I have friends that had the same situation , they did not apply for the recognition. They apply for phil passport and fly out without any problems.

Yes I have heard that before, but lately I know of a few that have banged into this Recognition issue when trying to get the passport.
