Hi everyone, I have been a LPR for about 3 and a half years and have been married to a U.S. citizen for six years and residing in the U.S. for 3 of those years. We are looking to file the N-400 for me to apply for naturalization. The N-400 guide VJ is pretty comprehensive but I have a couple of questions.

1) For documents like leases, joint accounts, etc would a copy of the most recent lease or bank statement with both of our names on it suffice? Or does USCIS typically like to see more than the most recent docs?

2) We have filed our taxes jointly since I have been in the U.S. and my husband was the primary filer. Would it be sufficient to request electronic IRS tax transcripts and print these and send with my N-400 application, or does USCIS want tax transcripts mailed to us from the IRS?

Thanks!

I have been through biometrics and am in line for an interview, so i can tell you what i sent. I sent the most recent statements of our credit account (joint) showing mortgage payments as well. also copy of deed to house purchase jointly, in other words, all the financial things. I didn't send all that other stuff like before... insurance, etc. I sent the past 3 years of the IRS tax transcript that we sent for in the mail. I am not aware that you CAN get electronic transcripts so maybe someone else can answer that question. at that time we did not have the latest one available, but I have it for the interview. Cheers!

I think you may want to review the official check list.

You dont need to send leases and joint accounts if you are alreadi sending your Tax returns transcrips for the last 3 years (https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/article/attachments.pdf)

Documents referring to you and your spouse:

a. Tax returns, bank accounts, leases, mortgages, or birth certificates of children; OR

b. Internal Revenue Service (IRS)-certified copies of the income tax forms that you both filed for the past 3 years; OR

c. An IRS tax return transcript for the last 3 years

yes you can get electronic transcript from the IRS website or you can call and choose to get them mail you copies of your annual tax transcripts.
