hey all,

im helping someone and here is the story. his wife was living in dhabi for I believe 2 years, she got scheduled for a interview there and because she wanted to have her baby in Ethiopia they tried to reschedule the interview in Ethiopia since she was going to be there. they sent a letter to change embassies 2 months ago. he just got another letter today stating we reschedule your interview with Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates in November! really, so they didn't change the embassy.

our question is can she just go back to dhabi and interview there or she needs to had set up residence again? im confused on residence in other countries. can she just obtain a visa and go to the interview? hope im clear if not ill try to be more clearer.

She wants to interview in Ethiopia but got re scheduled for UAE, date was changed but not embassy, just so I understand correctly.

I would email Ethiopia and request an interview transfer from UAE to Ethiopia. If UAE agrees then it should be no problem.

Make a clear brief request that due to delivering a baby in ____she wants to interview in Ethiopia.

Previous transfer request resulted in change of date but not embassy and you are requesting again that your case be transfered

to Ethiopia not UAE.

First K1 denied after 16 month of AP. Refiled. We are a couple since 2009. Not a sprint but a matter of endurance.

I would email Ethiopia and request an interview transfer from UAE to Ethiopia. If UAE agrees then it should be no problem.

yea that's correct. well they emailed them before and it didn't work so he was just saying should he send her back there just to get the interview over with or should they gamble again and try to get the embassy moved? I mean I think the question is can she still do her interview in UAE? she doesn't mind traveling back to do it.

Both. They can still try again to clarify the transfer and she can interview in UAE if she has legal residence or visa there as long as she

is not illegally there.

It would be easier and cheaper to get it in Ethiopia since she is already there. Perhaps it was not articulated clearly enough

that she wanted a transfer. Address this in the next email.

Did the letter come from NVC or is the case already at the embassy and the embassy send the letter ?

I would email again to get it in Ethiopia.

Ethiopia is on a 6 month waiting period for interviews so the fear is not only will it not transfer but when it does will they have to wait the 6 months to be scheduled.

I agree in that case it's better to go to UAE. I have a friend who was able to interview in Cyprus but was from Morocco

with a tourist visa, so I am assuming she would be ok but better check with the embassy in UAE to be certain, what status

was she on in UAE ?

I believe so was on a work visa

If that expired then I am not so sure that she can interview there. It is perhaps embassy specific and best to ask them.

You don't want to go through all that and then be told you can not interview there.

If that expired then I am not so sure that she can interview there. It is perhaps embassy specific and best to ask them.

yea exactly. I went on their website to see if there was something about who is qualified to apply for a visa in that country but that would be all to right if they had that section lol( unless im missing it). so that's why I asked here. I told him to check on it but I think they gonna just gamble and go there. its next month so even if they say she cant interview there they can just email Ethiopia asking for the transfer anyways.

Several service requests made, contacted Senator and Ombudsman. Background checks still pending.
July 21, 2017 HOME VISIT.  Went well. Topic thread in AOS forum.
Waiting to skip ROC and get 10 yr GC due to over 2 year while pending AOS
AOS APPROVED Oct. 4, 2017 * Green card in hand Oct 13, 2017 !!!!!

First K1 denied after 16 month of AP. Refiled. We are a couple since 2009. Not a sprint but a matter of endurance.
