What are the steps after receiving case number?

Hello everyone,

I was wondering, what are the steps to be taken once the case number is received while case still at NVC? Is there a wait for the embassy or do you just file the next step? I am aware that embassy wants the applicant to pay fees prior to scheduling the interview, Is it correct procedure to apply and pay at this point? or is it better to wait a few weeks for the embassy to contact? What form is needed for K-1 at this point?
