UK Military Records?

11 posts in this topic

Recommended Posts

Was wondering if any other UK Beneficiaries with army history can provide some insight...

For the Military Records requirement, we received a "Certificate of Service for Immigration Purposes" with his Date of Discharge from the Disclosure 1 , MP 520 offices.

Questions:

1. Letter states if a "Certificate of Service (discharge papers) is required, we have to contact Service Leavers. Is this different from the "Certificate of Service for Immigration Purposes" and should we request for this as well?

2. The document is in black and white and stamped by "Disclosure 1, MP520..." in black - I'm a bit concerned hearing others state they were told their military records look like copies. Any suggestions or can anyone share their experiences?

Thanks!

Anyone have knowledge of what exactly they meant by military records? Seems like the instructions specify discharge only.

Any input would be appreciated!

When my husband got his it was just a discharge paper and a cover sheet. We submitted it to NVC, so if it's incorrect I don't know just yet...

Thanks, that's what we got too. "Military records" seemed so ambiguous.

On the DS 260, did he just list his army base addresses?

When I applied for my records I got a thick wedge of photocopied material, most of it I didn't understand!

I just copied it and put it in my pack.

We got that as well but a lot of it was redacted or confidential so I'm not sure it's something he's allowed to publicize.

It didn't ask for his army base address to his knowledge. (He filled it out a while ago. We got held up on my paperwork. Ugh taxes.)

I think it asks for previous address history and we were wondering how to fill it out since he traveled a lot while serving.

I was just prepping my tax stuff also and am dreading next year's married-single status lol I'm praying that I'll hit interview stage before April tax season so I don't have to worry about it!!!!

Thanks, that's what we got too. "Military records" seemed so ambiguous.

On the DS 260, did he just list his army base addresses?

I just put

# Squadron

RAF Wherever I was based

Post code

UK

If I was deployed in 'other' areas I didn't bother with addresses unless over 6 months and then used the same protocol.

Because my father was ex military as well I never knew half our addresses and my parents have passed, so I just put

# Squadron

RAF Wherever

BFPO #

Had no problems at all
