Hi! I was wondering, does my fiance (the petitioner) needs to have $16,500 (for a household of 2 persons) in his bank account to show that he can support the poverty level 125% for I-134? or does that only apply for the I-864? Oh, if and only if, he does need to have that... do we require a co-sponsor if his yearly income is $40,000 even though his bank account does not reach the 125% poverty line? pls do reply! thanks.

NO he does not need to have that in the bank. .He just needs to have the assets or income to show he can support you.

if he makes $40,000 a year, then I see no problem he would be ok to sponsor more then one.

In fact, you do not even need a bank account. Just proof from employer that the USC is in fulltime employment for $xxxxxx Salary, a couple of paystubs and that should be sufficient. (Its always good to have the W2 though)
