IR2 & IR5- NVC Stage/Medical/Interview

Hello!

I am a Naturalized US Citizen, petitioning my Mother and my minor child under IR5 and IR2. The Petition is in NVC stage, which i already paid for AOS fee of $120 and right now i am working on getting the documents done. However i have some concerns that hopefully someone can help base on your knowledge and experience. Here are some of my questions.

1. SLEC (St. Luke ) medical requirements for Minor child is = they should be accompanied with parents (which i am not able to ) or by a guardian (my mom) with Authorization Letter or Power of attorney. My Questions are:

a.) Is the authorization Letter signed by me and AMerican lawyer would be accepted?

b.) or do i need to get this letter from the Embassy of the Philippines?

2. SLEC Medical for my Senior Mom = can she bring someone with her inside to assist her with her medical ? what would be the requirements?

3. During Interview : Can my mom bring someone inside the US embassy as her assistant and interpreter ? and what would be the requirements ?

1.) You will need the ff:

- Letter of Authorization or Special power of attorney stating that the companion is authorized to sign on behalf of the parent
- 2 photocopies of the Parent's government issued ID
- Authorized companion's government issued ID, original and 2 photocopies

2.) Unless your mom needs special care that she cannot walk or fill out documents by herself, SLEC usually does not allow anyone to accompany their patients. They can try to talk to the guard and see if they will allow it, but most of the time they don't.

3.) During the interview, the embassy will offer an interpreter if needed. So when asked if she needs one, your mother can simply say yes.

May I suggest possibly having a sibling or close family member be your child's authorized companion so that your mother can also have whomever that is be her companion as well. That way, all 3 of them can enter SLEC with no problems Of course your mother would still be the one to sign her paperwork, but at least she won't be alone.

It is a good suggestion, but sound scary lol.!! Do you think they will not look at the authorization letter before signing ?or the authorization will just like a gate pass for someone authorize to ?

This is just speculation because I haven't experienced it first hand, but I think they will ask to look at the authorization letter before signing because they will ask for a copy of the authorized companion's ID for their files.

XMARICRIS i will probably authorize the family member to accompany the minor, it would be sure that she will get in the SLEC. thank you for your suggestion and quick response.
