My fiancee's visa shows ...

Class B MED (Cleared for immigration)

After arrival, my now wife, received a notice from our county health department.

She went for her appointment, the did another chest x-ray and on her follow-up visit she was told to go on a 9-month drug therapy as a preventative measure.

She has a scar from a bout with TB from years ago and had to do the sputum culture for her medical before she even came here.

There is no active TB.

My question is whether or not the 9 months of taking the medication is optional or if it is a requirement for AOS.

We are concerned with all the possible side affects.

Thanks

So far I have found that in Idaho it is optional.

I haven't found anything specific for Illinois but it would seem if there is not a "norm" nationally that it wouldn't affect immigration.

We are going to make sure the panel doctor in Cape Town didn't include anything he didn't inform us about.

Taking an antibiotic for 9 months seems like it should be optional if it is just as a precaution.

I have the same case as your wife..although my medical back in the Philippines shows that there's no active TB. Upon arrival here in the US, i was told that i have to undergo another medical exam and they will have to call me for my schedule so they asked for a phone number and I gave my husband's number. How long did u wait to be notified for her schedule of the medical exam?

I don't recall exactly but I think she had been here 6-8 weeks when we got the notice.

We went to the medical and unfortunately it cost $255!

I have since found this on the USCIS website.

Read through it and you will see a part about latent TB.
