Best places to stay in Bogotá for Interview???

What is the updated info on the best places to stay in Bogotá for the visa interview?

(Yes I did a search, found 2 places, but I also know that quality has been known to change over time)

I am interested in:

1. How close is it to embassy?

2. How cheap is it?

3. Is it a good value for the money?

NOTE: My wife said she is interested in a place she can cook for us (i.e. furnished apartment with kitchen), but I will settle for a reasonably priced hotel as close as possible to the embassy.

I've stayed at Suites Real (two locations near central) and Lloyd's apartment-suites. Both places are reasonably priced (like $60/night), clean, safe, and has a kitchen. I believe Suites Real would be closer to the embassy.

By the way, I wouldn't worry too much about getting some place that close to the embassy. Remember, you are going to be travelling in a cab at 6:00 a.m. - not much traffic yet. We made it to the embassy from my wife's north Bogota home in 20 minutes. And, of course, the cabs are cheap.

It is a little disappointing. There are some folks who got approved around the same time I did...and they've kind of disappeared. And there's a lot of other folks that I've helped through PM who also don't seem to be around any more. My wife has been in the U.S. for 8 weeks now and we're on to the next process....but I get a sense of satisfaction from trying to help those behind me. So, if anyone needs help....send me a PM. I don't know all of the answers (especially if you are an IR-1/CR-1 person), but I'll try to help.

From those of you who are reading this who are new....try to give back when you feel you know enough. I've noticed a few folks who haven't completed the process yet, but already have learned enough to help others....good for all of you.

I'm still in the first stages of the process but whatever I've experienced I try to let others know about it. It's always nice to help people who are just as lost as we are.

Francisco and I have stayed at this hotel last September. It is not close to the embassy but as Mike mentioned the time you need to go to the embassy will be very early in the morning--probably a 20-minute cab ride to the embassy. The staff was very polite--the room was nice, with a small kitchen, dining table, and sitting room. It is located in a nice neighborhood. Not sure how long you intend to stay but there are many restaurants, cafes, etc. very near to the hotel so probably more enjoyable to stay in this neighborhood rather than closer to the embassy. My brother and his girlfriend live just a few blocks from the hotel, so I'm familiar with the area. I would definitely stay in this hotel again, but not needed for our interview as we are staying at my brother's apartment.

A place I've stayed at a few times while in Bogota is Bogota Colombia Lodging. www.bogotacolombialodging.com.

They have both apartments and rooms for rent, even a free u.s. phone line and computer usage.

They are about 8 min. from the embassy and I met several peoplewith visa appointments while staying there. Nice people and service.

Ask for the 3 bedroom apartment in modelia....its actually more like a house.

about 60 dollars american per day....10 minutes from embassy...15 minutes from airport...30-40 minutes from lab...45 min to 60 min from med exams...

walking distance from exito...and other stores of interest. close to malls etc....nice place...i would not rec. doing the bed in breakfast location as there is no privacy...
