Hi guys,

I have applied for a change of status from B1 to F1, and I got a letter from USCIS requesting for proof of SEVIS fee being paid.

I have two questions that I was hoping someone can help me out with

1) Does this mean the change of status should be approved once I have paid the fee?

2) The deadline given on the letter is about three weeks from now, and one day before the school start date, so If i pay the sevis fee and reply back to USCIS before the deadline, is there enough time for them to process it before the school starts? If not, what will happen? Is the change of status going to be denied or simply pushed back a semester?

3) I am considering changing to another school. So should I do that at this time? Get a new I-20 from the new school, pay the sevis fee, then reply back to USCIS?

Thanks for any input in advance!

Hello,

You should pay the sevis fee as soon as you get I-20. Pay the fee at fmjfee.com and print the confirmation and send it to uscis. You can switch school later as sevis fee is valid while u r in f1 and u dont have to pay it again if u switch school.
