Revenue Canada - Are you still waiting, too?

I got my taxes in the mail well before the April 30 deadline. The status in my online account has been sitting at "received" for months. Last year, my mail-in return was processed and paid out by mid-July.

But now I'm an international account so things take a long time. I just got off the phone with a CRA rep and she said "officially" my tax return was received on July 16 and international accounts can take up to 16 weeks to process.

Sigh ... just that much longer I have to keep my stupid RBC accounts open.

I sent mine in super late due to not receiving my T4 until early May (we moved and it got sent to the old address. Twice. Grr.) Had H&R do it and send it away mid May. Status showed as received for about 2 months, then in process for a month or so more and just the other day shows as processed and that my NOA will be available next week. They do say on the website that it takes 4-6 weeks to process paper returns. Hopefully they will get to yours soon!

I submitted mine early, too, and the NOA was available online last week and they deposited a refund in my bank! that was unexpected. Seems like I overpaid. Hope yours goes through soon!

I work for an accounting firm that processes both Cdn and US tax returns.

CRA's International department (for those with addresses outside of Canada) is much slower processing returns than the regular department.

I've seen some returns for non-residents take up to a year to be assessed.

I called about mine a few weeks ago. She said the international office takes longer but that mine was odd since there were no updates at all. So she submitted a request for update for me.

I looked online a few days ago and it has been proceeded and I believe is depositing tomorrow.

So just seems they are slightly slow. Or they lost a bunch for a while too.
