Do we need a joint sponsor if Petitioner is working in US this year but didn't last year?

Hi everyone,

My husband lived in the US prior to 2015 (citizen). Moved to be with me in Canada Jan. 1, 2015 (he is dual). Couldn't find work for 6 months due to the recession we are having in his industry, found work at Safeway for 6 months. Got a job offer in his field and went back to US Jan. 2016.

So, for years 2013 and 2014, he made well over poverty lines. In his current permanent position, he has already made more than poverty line. But, in 2015. he made "foreign earned income" that is slightly under poverty lines. He did file a US return but it is not considered US earned income. The NVC said this might be a problem and that we should get a joint sponsor just in case. The trouble is, we are not having any luck finding a joint sponsor.

Has anyone here been in a similar situation? Were you able to get approved without a joint sponsor based on current income? Thank you for your input.

We got approved with 2 years of foreign income (so 0 in the US), and a signed job contract in the US stating salary above the minimum.

GREAT news. Thank you. This makes me feel better. Were they specific about the amount of money that was foreign made?
